Biography from uribracha.com
Uri started playing guitar when he was 13 and went on to study Classical Guitar with Haim Asulin and Composition with Inam Leif at the Jerusalem Academy of music.
Uri had won twice the cultural American-Israeli fund award for playing classical guitar.
After graduating the Academy Uri decided to go for jazz. He traveled to N.Y.C to study with John Abercrombie and to play with local bands. After playing with an N.Y.U leading group, Uri decided to travel back home to Israel, where, he believed, was the right place to write his music.
Uri Bracha's music is a unique blend which expresses the multiple cultures in Israel and in the Middle East with Brazilian and jazz music.
Uri has been performing all over Israel with his original tunes and arrangements. He performed in 3 International guitar festivals held in Tel-Aviv in 1995, 1996 & 1998.
Uri has performed, as a soloist, his original music and arrangements, with orchestras and big bands in Israel, bringing local and international influences in a unique sound to the stage.
Releasing his second album "Origins" granted him the participation in the 2002 Jazz Red Sea Festival.
In February 2007 Uri and his group performed with new original tunes in the International Jazz Festival held in Tel-Aviv.
Uri's energetic running program "voices instruments and boss nova" includes original tunes, famous Brazilian composer's tunes and songs.
Uri's repertoire as solo guitar player includes: classical Spanish guitar tunes, Brazilian tunes, Israeli and jazz tunes. Uri, also, integrates different singers in events and concerts.
